FAQ & care
Answers about materials, sizes, the meaning cards, Build-a-Spoon, care, payment, delivery, import charges and returns.
Materials
What is the jewellery made of?
18K gold-plated 316L stainless steel: a stainless steel base with a thin surface layer of 18K gold. It is not solid gold. Chains, clasps, earring posts and jump rings are the same material.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
316L stainless steel contains a small amount of nickel bound into the steel. We only make skin-related claims that test reports support, so we make none at the moment. If you know you react to metals, please ask us before ordering, and stop wearing a piece if your skin becomes red or itchy.
Will the gold plating last?
Plating is a surface layer and softens with wear. Keeping pieces dry, putting perfume and creams on first, and storing each piece in its box helps it last much longer.
What are the pocket lovespoons made of?
Natural wood with the symbols laser-engraved and an oiled finish. They are keepsakes, not kitchen spoons, and should not be used with food.
The meaning cards
What does the card say?
Each card shows a symbol on the front and its traditional meaning on the back, with space for your own message. Every product page shows the exact wording under “What your card says”. A piece with several symbols comes with a card for each.
Can you write a message on the card for me?
Not at the moment. The back of each card is left blank for you to write on yourself.
Build-a-Spoon
How does it work?
On the Build a spoon page you choose two, three or four symbols, put them in the order you want from top to bottom and pick a chain length. The price depends on the number of symbols. We link the charms one below the other and finish the line with a tiny spoon bowl.
Why can I not choose some symbols?
The builder only offers symbols we have in stock, so your necklace is never delayed waiting for a charm. A symbol that is out of stock is shown as such and comes back when we restock.
Can I return a Build-a-Spoon necklace?
Yes. It is put together from stock charms without engraving, so the normal 14-day right to withdraw applies.
Prices and payment
Which currency will I pay in?
The currency of your delivery country: pounds for the UK, euros for the euro area, Danish, Swedish or Norwegian kroner, Swiss francs or US dollars. You can change the country at the top of any page; the price at checkout is the amount charged.
Is VAT included?
We are not currently registered for VAT, so no VAT is added at checkout. For deliveries outside the UK your country may charge import VAT and duties on delivery; see Shipping & delivery.
How can I pay?
With the payment methods shown at checkout. Payments are handled by our payment providers over an encrypted connection; we never see your full card details.
Delivery
How long does delivery take?
Orders are dispatched within 1–3 working days with tracking. Delivery takes 2–4 working days in the UK and 5–12 working days elsewhere, depending on the country. Costs and times for every country are on Shipping & delivery.
Can I change my address after ordering?
Until the order is dispatched, yes: email us straight away. After dispatch we cannot redirect parcels.
Returns
Can I return something?
Yes, within 14 days of delivery, for any reason. Use Withdraw from contract here or email us. Earrings can only be returned with their seal unbroken, for hygiene reasons, unless they are faulty. Full details are on Returns & refunds.
Something is wrong with my order.
Email support@elquvani.com with your order number and a photo. We pay for returning faulty or wrong items.
Care
- Take jewellery off before swimming, bathing, exercise and sleep.
- Put perfume, hairspray and creams on first and let them dry.
- Wipe pieces with a soft dry cloth and store each one in its box.
- Keep wooden spoons dry and out of strong sunlight; a drop of food-safe wood oil once a year keeps them from drying out.
